Company Overview
The Company’s production facility is located in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China.
Novarise currently employs approximately 480 people, whom are all located at the Company's production facility in Quanzhou, Fujian Province.
The Company's proprietary technology enables the Company to use post-consumer polypropylene waste to produce fibre-grade recycled polypropylene pellets (instead of virgin polypropylene), and which are then used to produce a range of polypropylene fibre-based products (including polypropylene filament yarn and finished products such as polypropylene consumer webbing products and agricultural twine).
The polypropylene waste materials sourced by Novarise are mostly in the form of used CD cases, agricultural twine, safety nets, fishing nets, polypropylene yarn and polypropylene straps. The Company is currently able to use 18 different types of polypropylene waste, primarily sourced from overseas.
Novarise is a leading producer of polypropylene filament yarn in China.
The Company's products are sold within China and internationally. The domestic customers for the Company's products are largely made up of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), who manufacture products for premium global brands such as:
- Dell
- IBM
- Apple
- Fila
- Umbro
- Samsonite
- Coleman
Novarise has established a network of domestic and international customers and distributors to provide a sales presence in key geographic regions such as China, Hong Kong, The Philippines, India, Taiwan, Tunisia and Russia.
Since its incorporation in 1998, the Company has invested in advanced technology and industrial know-how. The Company is now focused on broadening the applications of its unique recycling technology.
The Company believes it is well placed to strengthen its leading position and capitalise on the Company's green technology, given its technological advantages, its ability to recycle polypropylene waste materials, and its current product mix and emerging products.
Green Enterprise
Post-consumer plastic waste presents a major environmental challenge to the world. Plastic waste which is not bio-degradable is often deposited in landfills or requires incineration, causing serious environmental damage.
The Company believes its advanced technology enables it to provide high quality polypropylene products, which are a greener alternative to polypropylene products currently available in the market made solely from virgin polypropylene.
In recognition of this, the Company's PP filament yarn, PP consumer webbing and PP green shopping bags have received certification from the Ministry of Environment Protection of the PRC as complying with the technical requirements for environmental labelling. Products with this certification are recognised in China as possessing superior quality and environmental performance, and are issued to raise awareness of environmentally-friendly products.
The use of fibre-grade recycled polypropylene pellets has two significant environmental benefits:
- it reduces the reliance on virgin polypropylene, and in turn a reliance on crude oil; and
- it lessens the amount of polypropylene waste to be disposed of in landfills or incinerated.
The Company's production of approximately 9,300 tonnes of fibre-grade recycled polypropylene pellets in 2008 from recycled polypropylene waste.
The Company believes its use of fibre-grade recycled polypropylene pellets enables the production of quality polypropylene products, at a significantly lower cost compared to using virgin polypropylene pellets.
The demand for recyclable polypropylene products such as polypropylene filament yarn is expected to grow in China and globally due to:
- the growing consumer awareness and preference for using recyclable plastic products (such as reusable eco-friendly shopping bags); and
- the introduction of laws and initiatives by many developed and developing economies (including China), to discourage the use of plastic bags and promote recycling of plastic bags.
The Company aims to follow environmentally responsible practices, in all aspects of its operations. The Company has been accredited with the ISO14001:2004 certification for its environmental management system.
Integrated Manufacturer
Diagram showing the Company's business model
Novarise is an integrated green PP manufacturer. It is involved in the key segments of the industry's value chain, from sourcing PP waste materials to the production of fibre-grade recycled PP pellets, PP filament yarn and end products such as agricultural twine and PP consumer webbing products.
The cornerstone of the business model is Novarise's technology. The Company has developed its proprietary technology and industrial know-how to recover post-consumer PP waste, to produce quality PP fibre products on a commercial scale. This is complemented by the manufacturing process and equipment that Novarise has developed, in order to achieve commercial production of fibre-grade recycled PP pellets with significant cost advantages.
Market Leader
Novarise recycles polypropylene waste materials to produce fibre-grade recycled polypropylene pellets for the production of polypropylene filament yarn, polypropylene consumer webbing products and agricultural twine.
The Company first commenced research and development on recycling post consumer polypropylene waste materials in 2005, and commenced volume production of fibre-grade recycled polypropylene pellets from polypropylene waste in 2008.
The Company intends to build on its core competencies and deliver high quality environmentally-friendly polypropylene products through the continuous development of its existing technology and product offerings, and broaden the applications of its recycling technology from the consumer area to agricultural, industrial and construction areas.
Commitment to Research and Development
The Company's core research and development achievement is the technology and know-how which has enabled it to become the first Company in China to successfully process polypropylene waste materials, to make fibre-grade recycled polypropylene pellets. The Company has applied for a patent to protect this technology.
In 2009, the Company was awarded the gold prize for this technology at the Eighteenth National Invention Exhibition of the China Invention Association.
The Company's research and development team was also responsible for the development of agricultural twine from fibre-grade recycled polypropylene pellets from polypropylene waste.
Novarise is currently committed to a number of research and development projects and is primarily focused on broadening the types of polypropylene waste materials which the Company can use, and expanding the use of its technology to create new finished products.
